My story - so far-

Here is my studio,

It is quite a change from the Magistrates and  Crown Courts that I spent 35 years attending in my career as a criminal defence lawyer.  I felt I'd served my sentence and called time. During those years, I defended clients at all stages of the justice process: from interviews at police stations; at trials before judge and jury at Crown Courts and, if things went badly wrong there, in the Court of Appeal.

Once, our Criminal Justice system was one that commanded respect around the world. Now, it is broken, and worse, few people know or really care.

What is Ceramic Justice about? I'm making pieces of individuality. It's unlikely you'll find two identical pieces. It is about liberating form, texture and colour. Each one freely plays its unique role in its own making.

'From criminal justice to Ceramic Justice' - it is still all about laws. Ceramic Justice reveals the laws of physics and chemistry.in action. How thin can I make the walls of a vase before it will collapse? How fast can I set the wheel before centrifugal force will throw the structure off balance?

After creation of the form, chemistry takes over. The world of glazes and oxides. The balance between fluxes and alumina. This is the molecular world; a journey that many potters have mastered. Me, a humble potter? I pray to the kiln gods to deliver a few satisfactory pieces and avert ceramic disasters.
