Pottery of character?  What is that? Exuberant; irreverent; joyous; mirthful; tactile. In short, pottery to connect with. Pottery that even makes you smile. Those are the qualities I want to bring to the humble block of clay. 

 

My pieces have their own character. Like human character, there could be flaws. Each piece will have gone through heart-stopping moments  (mine - not theirs)

As well as homeware items, such as bowls, mugs, plates and vases which I make on the wheel, Expressing my love and fascination of animals takes me into a different mind space. I only make a few of each at a time - it is a cycle of making  Each one is carefully hand shaped and the surfaces then progressively smoothed. Each one assumes an attitude all of its own. I just follow what the shape itself directs. We have birds, of course,  and dogs, cats, foxes, bears, hedgehogs, rhinos, elephants, and even badgers and horses, and, a pangolin. There is nobility in all of them that I can connect with . There is also cuteness and even self deprecation. Yes! Because, animals are just like us.
